Great Plains v1.0.0.0

DESCRIPTION

Great Plains is a 4X map based on the central plains of the USA (Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma). That means flat terrain, wide open spaces, and BIG fields.

I was getting frustrated with maps that were visually stunning, but which emphasized scenery at the expense of playability, so I decided to do the opposite. This map was designed for easy playability with automation mods, such as Courseplay, so all the fields have wide clear borders and there are very few obstructions. There is no AI traffic to interfere with your automated vehicles.

You start off with some good equipment. There are already Cow, Sheep, Pig, Chicken, and Horse facilities at your main farm. I intentionally did not include a bunker silo near the cow husbandry as many players prefer to use fermenting silo and feed mixer mods. I left plenty of space for you to place whatever items you like.

Purchased vehicles spawn at your main farm area with the overflow spawning at the Vehicle Shop.

An AutoDrive network is included, please import "AutoDrive_FS19_Great_Plains_config.xml" into your AutoDrive the first time you start a new game.

The farm has additional crops: Millet, Rye, Spelt, Carrot, Onion, Lettuce, Cabbage, Red Cabbage, Poppy, Hops, Tobacco, and Clover.

Millet, Rye, Spelt, Poppy, and Hops are harvested with any normal grain header. Tobacco requires any corn header. Carrot, Onion, Lettuce, Cabbage, and Red Cabbage require a multifruit harvester mod with a header specific to each crop. You can find these mods online. Clover can be harvested with a forage harvester and turned into chaff.

Thanks to:

CAZZ64 for the 4X base map and multifruit silo.
RWModding for Converted Road System Kit.
Dorset for make-your-own-sign kit.
Numerous unknown modders for buildings and decorative items.
NOR3MSTI for inspiration.

Please do not upload to any other sites.

Thanks for your comment. What flags are you talking about? There is one American flag next to the city hall building. Or did you mean something else?

Nice map, thanks. You forgot sorghum (milo) which is widely grown in the Central Plains.

They are all purchasable lands. I just started a new game and made sure they work properly, no issues here. Have to wonder if your download got corrupted somehow. Try disabling your AV and redownloading/reinstalling.

Love the map but I cannot dump grain into the silo on the main farm. Trigger is not working. Thanks!

Works fine here, I have over 100 hours play time on the map on both Mac and Windows systems. See my reply to the comment above, maybe your AV caused some issue with your download?

Why is field 1 $1.6 million? That's more than fields 3 times its size.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I found that the border area around the edges of the map is also tagged to Field 1, which would explain the price issue. Mea culpa! I will fix that in a future update.

If you start in New Farmer mode you will already own Field 1 by default and it won't be an issue.

This is my Farming Simualtor 19 Great Plains v1 0 0 0 First Look Review and for the size I am impressed with the map. For the size though and the mass fields, a train would be nice to transport. I certainly can understand what the map designer was doing and I certainly can appreciate the hard work and dedication. Can't wait to see what comes next. - https://youtu.be/ae_Bcu4oLbY

Thanks for your comments and a great video! I thought about including a train, but decided against it; since I already included an AutoDrive network, you can easily set up an automated truck and trailer to transport from any silo to any sell point, plus it loads/unloads automatically. That, to my mind, is much more versatile than a train.

Does anyone have a working AutoDrive network on this map? It seems most is working , but dumping in main silo doesnt work it seems, (recording routes myself crashes the game for some reason).

I finally got the silo to work. I redownloaded the map but still had issue until I unloaded a little product from the silo and redumped it, Now I can dump any product in the silo. Thanks!

Found an issue at Field 40, my combines get stuck / hit by something invisible, Its like my workers stop working, and i cannot drive myself on that field, it started at the bottom part (south) of field 40, but it is doing it on all sides of that field.

So far its a great map, love the big fields! Could you add the xml files for the standard fruit types (wheat, corn, etc) so that i can put custom textures on mine? Also, are you planning on making it Seasons compatible when it comes out?

The xml files for the standard crops are in your program folder, you can always make copies of them. I will certainly look at the requirements for Seasons compatibility when it is released, hopefully it won't be a major headache.

That is very strange. I just did a mission on 40 and did not have any problems. Were you using stock or mod equipment?

I have to wonder if your mod harvester has an excessively large collision trigger and it thinks it is colliding with the map border. I would suggest trying it with stock in-game equipment and see what happens. Where exactly on the field did this happen? Was it in the middle of a row or making a turn at the end?

Error: No depth map available, but shape 'drivingDust' (emitter1Ref) with material 'fx_smoke01_mat' uses a custom shader which requires reading depth data.

Try setting antialiasing to 2X, texture filtering to Ansio 2X, and shader quality to High (or less) and see if that makes a difference. It is my understanding that all maps based on CAZZ64's base map will show that warning if graphics settings are too high. In any case, you can ignore the warning as it will not affect gameplay.

@AVIATOR64 It was on the end of the field, when he started to make a turn to the next lane. Started on the lane next to the forrest area.

OK, that does indeed sound like an issue with your mod harvester's collision mask being too big and hitting the map border.

Glad it's working for you now! Now that we know what the problem was, if you want to use your mod harvester just make one or two headland rows, that way it will stay away from the trees when doing the up/down rows.

AVIATOR64 you have produced a very nice map. Even with your initial comments in the map description saying your were not creating a visually stunning map but rather a map focused on playability, I find the map to be very pleasing to look at, clean and not covered in so much yard sale junk as many other maps not exhibit.

Once again thanks for a great map, I look for to your future updates. This map can only get better and better.

Nice map so far but progress is a bit bumpy.
Map itself is a bit empty, if you could change the field behind the dealership into some houses, and add some traffic, it would add some lifelyhood in the map.
