Drone Show v1.0 [Free + Pro]

Ever stared at a real drone light show and thought "yeah, I want to do that at 2am on Utah instead of sleeping"? Good news. No drones to buy, no permits, no crashing a 40k $ quadcopter into a tree.

Type a word. Hit SHOW. A swarm of glowing orbs lifts off the ground, sweeps into position, and holds your text hanging in the air.

Roll up at night and it genuinely looks like the real deal - bloom, shimmer, the whole thing. Everything is a slider, a toggle or a button. No config files, no guessing. Build a look you like, save it, move on.

What you get (Free Edition)

• Type anything — any word, any length, live on any map.

• Colors, your way:

  • Single, or a palette with as many colors as you want

  • Cycle - the whole swarm sweeps through your palette

  • Gradient - colors flow across the word

  • Per-letter - every letter its own color

  • Rainbow - because of course

  • Pick colors with a proper H/S/V picker, not a fixed list.

• Two looks: a soft glowing "debug" style, or real emissive HDR-bloom orbs that light up the night.

• Fly-in animations: rise from the ground, gather from a swarm, sweep in from the sides, or scatter in from nowhere.

• Tune the speed, the cascade, the easing, the idle shimmer.

• Letter spacing, size, density - dial the text in exactly.

• Place it anywhere: distance, height, scale, orb size, glow strength.

• Presets - save a whole setup with a name and load it back in a click.

• Quick Access radial slice (Sandbox → Drone Show) plus bindable Replay / Clear keys.

Pro Edition [Paid Version]

• Volumetric 3D formations - give the word real thickness and let it slowly rotate. Flat text is nice. Text you can walk a camera around is better. [WIP]

• Playlists / sequences - queue up a bunch of words (and images), hit play, and the show cycles through them on a loop. Set it and watch [WIP]

• Image recreation - drop any PNG or JPG into the images folder and the swarm rebuilds it out of drones, in the picture's actual colors. Logos, portraits, pixel art, your dog. One button opens the folder for you. Images folder path: BeamNG Drive/current/drone_show_images

NOTES

• Single player. Works on any map, any time - but night is where it shines.

• Open it from the Apps menu (edit mode → drag "Drone Show" onto your screen).

• Bigger words and higher-res images mean more drones. If your framerate starts sweating, drop the density or trim the glow.

How to download and install

The free version is downloaded through Boostylink. At the end of this post there's a download link, where you simply have to subscribe to my Patreon for FREE, return to the Boostylink page, and click the Unlock Link button.

The Pro version is only available to paid Patreon T2+ members - the file downloads directly, just find the pinned file at the end of the post and click on it.

The installation path is standard, but I highly recommend keeping the mod in unpacked form. To do this, create an "unpacked" folder inside the mods folder, then create a folder named after the mod - drone_show. Now all that's left is to drop the contents of the archive into this folder, and everything should work.
