This mod is in active development. Expect rough edges, occasional misbehaving AI, and events that do not yet handle every road / map perfectly. More events, smarter AI driving logic, and richer player-interaction features are coming in future updates. Please report any issues you find, thanks!
Random Events turns any map into a living world. Drive around in Free Roam and the world fills itself with believable scenes - aggressive racers, road closures with concrete barriers, accidents with wreckage, police chases, parking-lot drifters, motorcades, ambulances, and more. Everything is detected and placed at runtime from the loaded map's road graph and parking data, so the mod works on official maps and user-created maps alike, with no per-map setup required.
Features
50+ distinct world events that spawn and despawn automatically based on your position and configurable per-minute chance.
Map-agnostic runtime detection. The mod scans the road graph and parking data of whatever map you load. It uses BeamNG's built-in parking spots when the map ships them, and falls back to a geometric raycast scan otherwise.
Persistent scan cache. First load of a map scans once; later loads read the result from disk for instant startup. A map fingerprint invalidates the cache automatically when map data changes.
In-game UI app.Add the Random Events app from the Apps menu. A compact view shows status (ON/OFF, active events, scan progress) and a one-click expand button reveals the full settings panel with per-event toggles, chance sliders, manual spawn buttons, and distance settings. An opacity toggle lets you fade the panel out so it doesn't block your view while driving - hovering over it restores full opacity instantly.
Spawned vehicles register as traffic so they don't clutter your Tab vehicle cycle. Roadworks props and barriers are also skipped on Tab.
Configurable spawn / despawn distance so you can tune how close events appear and how far away they linger before cleaning up.

Known limitations:
AI driving on routes is functional but can still get stuck on unusual geometry; smarter route logic is a top priority for the next update.
Some prop placements may snap to slightly offset positions on maps without authored parking-spot data.
A handful of community maps with sparse road graphs will produce fewer events than dense official maps.
New update is already available for Random Events. Version 1.9 changelog:
This update adds a new visual effects layer that dresses two dozen existing scenes, three new events, and a clearer breakdown shield. 56 events become 59.
New events:
Make way - an emergency vehicle comes up fast behind you with its lights on. Pull over and let it pass and that counts as a good deed. Ignore it and it just carries on up the road on its call.
Donut pit invite - a drifter is holding a parking lot open and waves you in. Lay down two full circles of your own and you have joined the pit, and the host cheers you on with the hazards.
Vehicle fire - a car burns on the shoulder on the game's own fire physics. Stop nearby to check on the driver for a good deed. A fire crew is dispatched and rolls in, and the fire is put out after a few minutes either way.
New effects layer
Wreck steam - crashes, accident scenes, pileups and overturned vehicles now vent a steam plume from the engine bay for a couple of minutes after they land, so a wreck reads as a wreck from a distance instead of just a parked car.
Night road flares - after dark, breakdowns, stalls, flat tires, crashes, pileups and the approach to roadworks are lit by flickering amber road flares at the warning cones. Daytime scenes are unchanged, since the flares would be invisible in daylight.
Responder light wash - at night, police and accident scenes throw a red and blue glow across the road that flips back and forth like a real lightbar, on top of the cars' own lights.
Effects on/off switch - a new Effects toggle in the mod settings turns the whole visual layer above on or off. The events keep playing either way. A burning car still burns, only the added dressing is removed.
Improved:
- Breakdown shield is clearer. Two cones now bracket the exact stretch of road you need to hold, so park between them. A message confirms the moment you find the right spot and how long to stay, and at night a flare marks the middle of the zone. No more guessing where to stand.
