Sangerhausen, Germany
Welcome to Sangerhausen, a map based on my hometown in central Germany.
This is my first map project ever and my attempt to recreate the main roads and recognizable parts of Sangerhausen as closely as possible in BeamNG.drive. The map is mainly focused on the city itself and its major roads, with many locations, shops, landmarks and other details based on their real-life counterparts.
Around 99% of the buildings were created specifically for this map, including many smaller details such as signs and the local bus stops.
Please keep in mind that this was also my first experience with BeamNG mapping. Because of that, some roads and road markings are incomplete, inaccurate or simply don't look particularly good. The AI traffic is also not working perfectly: some road definitions and directions are incorrect, and AI vehicles may behave strangely or drive much too fast in parts of the city.
Performance
Sangerhausen is a very large and demanding map with a huge number of buildings, objects and vegetation. Significant FPS drops can occur, especially in densely built-up areas and when looking towards the city center.
A powerful PC is highly recommended, and at least 16 GB of VRAM is recommended for the best experience. The mod itself is also quite large due to the amount of custom content included.
Despite the remaining issues, I decided to release the map after spending a huge amount of time working on it rather than leaving my first mapping project unfinished.
Modding & Improvements
If you have experience with BeamNG mapping and want to fix, optimize or improve the map, you are very welcome to do so.
You are also welcome to use the buildings and other custom assets I created for Sangerhausen in your own BeamNG projects and maps.
You may improve the roads, AI traffic, performance, objects or anything else and release your own improved version.
The only condition is that Sangerhausen, modified versions of it, and assets taken from this project must remain completely free. Please do not sell the map, its assets, or distribute improved versions behind any kind of paywall.
