The Šenta 325 was the successor to the Šenta 120 and Šenta 80 models launched in 1987. It was powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine developed on the basis of the Autobello engine to reduce development costs. This engine was later reused in the second generation on the same platform, now under the management of AW Auto Group, which acquired the Šenta in 1992. In 1998, at the same time as the MK2 restyling, Šenta introduced its JULIA model, based on the 325, which was essentially a Šenta Ferax in a liftback body.
