Neat idea!!...but holy rough terrain. Somebody mod a rock crawler please!
Neat idea yes, but without any actual game physics for sand, it would be like riding up in the rocky mountains instead of sand dunes, like you mentioned. If the game engine could simulate that, I'd be getting this map without a second thought. For the farming aspect, it would be quite original growing crops found around Dakar.
With trees being critical for nitrogen fixation in the soil in such desert areas, the game could easily simulate this aspect of desert farming.
