A retired Cold War-era S-125 surface-to-air missile system is returning to active service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to a Ukrainian Air Force press release on Thursday. Details came in an August 6 press release announcing that the Soviet-designed S-125 missile system is taking part in tactical exercises in the Kharkiv region, near the Russian border. The Ukrainian Air Force’s S-125 medium-altitude surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems were retired in 2013.
