The tractor was developed at the Polish-Czechoslovak Tractor Research and Development Centre in Brno and was then produced at the ZM Ursus plant in Poland from 1964 to 2009. 4,857 units were produced. Many of them are still working on Polish farms, with a smaller number also operating in many other countries.
