The name captures its essence: "heavy" denotes the machinery's capability to handle demanding, heavy-duty tasks, while "star" signifies its status as a "star" performer in such rigorous work. Furthermore, the name alludes to a common suffix used by real-world manufacturers during that era to designate specific vehicle platforms.

The Gavril brand was chosen as the "parent company" for the Heavystar line, given its specialization in medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The Heavystar lineup features three versatile configurations: PE ("passenger engineered" for buses), LD ("light duty" for light trucks), and HD ("heavy duty" for heavy trucks).
